Dear Peter,
I'm thrilled to share with you the beauty of a traditional Chinese festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival. Celebrated as a harvest festival, it has its roots in ancient天文觀測(cè) and the veneration of the moon.
One of the oldest festivals in China, the Mid-Autumn Festival is marked by rituals such as moon worship and the sharing of mooncakes, which symbolize family unity and happiness. The festival also involves activities like lantern lighting and appreciating the fragrance of osmanthus flowers, accompanied by the sweet taste of osmanthus wine.
These customs have been passed down through generations, embodying our rich and precious cultural heritage. The full moon on this night is not just a natural wonder but a symbol of family reunion and the yearning for loved ones far away. It's a time to pray for a good harvest and for blessings to be bestowed upon all.
I hope one day you can experience the magic of the Mid-Autumn Festival yourself.
Best wishes,
Li Hua
一;As we all know, different countries have different table manners. Today, I’d like to introduce something about Chinese table manners. It’s very necessary to learn table manners in China. In China, table manners are too much. For instance, you are not supposed to eat with knives and forks. Chinese usually use chopsticks instead. But we are not supposed to stick our chopsticks into our food. But we are supposed to pick up our bowl to eat. And we are supposed to let the old start eating first. And we are allowed to talk at the table. However, you can’t talk too loud and laugh too crazily. In fact, in China, table manners are not so serious . so , you don’t need to worry about them so much.
二;China is a typical country in the east. So there are a number ofgreat differences from other western countries. As we all know, comparing with westerners, we chinese people are much more euphemistic. They don't like expressing their feelings directly. When being commended, we chinese people usually reply with"No,No, i am not good!". In our minds, it is a kind ofvirtue. On the contrary, they westerners suggest it is an action of not being confident enough. We can't say which is better and which is worse, because it was formedby culture and background.
